I have seen a lot of similar looking pieces that are broken candle or lantern holders in gold rush sites.

My .02 is it's about the 1930's, found one similar at a 1930s house along with other objects and coins from the 1930s, however, they are still being produced, but your piece I would personally date at 1930s-1960s.
