This bullet has one grove and it does have the the ridges in the grove. From what I’ve read it can’t be older than 1880. I have included pics of size. How long were these bullets made and what gauge is it?
Thanks
Brandon

Is the bullet lead? My best guess is its a .38 Special. If you could weigh it that would help also.
Its definitely smokeless powder age, as there appears to be no large rings for lube.

That weight would convert to ~150 grains. 158 grain cast lead bullet is/was the standard .38 Special bullet.
Would say with 95% certainty that is what it is. It is also one of the most common rounds in history! Introduced in 1898.
I would date that maybe 1970's/1980's but that's just a guess.
