As some of you know I have started a new hobby of metal detecting. Since I live on and around some extremely historical dirt. Both before the Revolution and During and after the Civil War. I went detecting in the woods behind the garage today for about an hour. And fairly deep in I dug up this small piece of I think is colonial jewelry. It is very small and gave me a fit trying to find it in the hole. But I am certainly no expert but I think they are rose petal leaves and where the hole is would have been the rose flower. What do you think may be the age and purpose of this piece? I think its cool.

I can see some detail on the leaves. Looks like the petals are soldered on. Have you determined what kind of metal it is?
