I had a good hunt this past weekend on a wooded hillside in a town that was settled in the 1600s. I found my first silver dimes, as well as this buckle. I posted this in a Facebook M.D. group and someone suggested it could be a 1600s-1700s buckle or a pilgrim hat buckle (I have no idea). Pics below. Any ideas?

Thanks guys! Originally I was more excited about the two silver dimes I found that day until I cleaned this off and got a better look at it. Is there any way to date it to a more specific time period of the 17th century?

Edit: A member of the Facebook group suggested 1620-1680 trapezoidal spur strap buckle. Is that correct?
