Decided it was time to venture off to a new elementary school. Was not disappointed.

Day 1: 64 coins, 42 of which were pennies. Dollar coin #7, junk bracelet parts were found together.

Day 2: 74 coins, 43 of which were pennies. Had by far the best tot lot hunt I've ever done albeit most finds were pennies. The blob of foil mostly came out of the tot lot but I did dig up some ketchup packets and folded up pieces of foil in the turf as well. Iron stuff came from tot lot. Key and Chuck E Cheese token came from the tot lot as well as my first Susan B! Dollar coin #8! Mood ring came from the turf. Dug my first knife in the turf as well. Although technically speaking it's just a handle... the blade is snapped at the base. Looks like it was a pretty nice knife too.

What I'm hoping is my best find of the day was found accidentally. I've been using the pinpoint function a lot here because most of the coins are no deeper than two or three inches and it makes it much easier to just scoop out the coin with one go of the Saber Tooth. I was doing this on a penny hit that I was pretty sure was on the surface. Pinpointed and dug and got nothing... Detected again and found I was off by an inch or two and sure enough just barely below the dead grass layer was a crusty zinc. As I was putting my plug back in I saw the cross sticking in a clump of dirt where I had started the plug... I thought maybe it was stamped piece of glitter because when I had scanned the area after pulling the penny I had gotten nothing. But when I pulled it out it I saw the loop and was stoked! I was about to stomp it back into the ground ! When I got home I tested it by basically touching it to my coil and it rings up between foil and nickel every time. There are no markings I can see but it's pretty detailed and the loop is not crimped.

What do you guys think? Real gold? If so, guess of the carat?

Happy Hunting!
Total Clad: $9.95

Very nice outings Paper. Nice clad hauls and neat the way your adding up the Dollar Coins. The Knife handle looks to be from a Buck. If there are no marks on the tiny cross all you can do is get it tested. Congrats! Jack

Thanks for the ID! I think it's the 110 model. I'd like to get it tested but since I'm never going to sell my finds scraping them wouldn't be worth it to me. I will try to take it to a jeweler to see what they think Tuesday. Now to look into this this "Forever Warranty"...

that's got to be the smallest cross I have seen here on the forum....but sure is a pretty one....

HDD

Thanks! I like the facets cut into it.

Looks like a good day, the cross is pretty, does it have any markings?

Unfortunately I'm guessing the markings were left on the clasp of the chain. It's such a small piece that any kind of marking would be obtrusive to the design. Thanks!

That cross is probably one of those tiny targets that drive the pro-pointer crazy, but takes to forever to locate.

I bet it would, luckily it was just sticking in the dirt otherwise I would have never found it. Thanks!

hope tis gold,looks nice

Thank you! I sure hope so too.

Is the loop on the cross soldered shut?

If so I bet gold...

<*)))>{

It is indeed soldered shut, it's seamless to my eye. The detail and color of the piece also make me think it's gold... just not sure what kind of content. It's so small that using a high purity wouldn't be too costly but it's fairly light in color. Think it's higher than 10k?

I bet thhttp://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=189065ere is a broken chain around where the cross was too!

Congrats on all the coins!

Thank you! I looked around the area but couldn't find it.. I didn't find the chain for the last charm I found either. Maybe it got sucked up by a lawnmower? If it's still there I unfortunately don't think my detector will ever pick it up . The only chain I've found was two cut pieces wrapped around the pendant still. Both here: http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=189065

Jeweler confirmed the snake charm from a previous hunt as being 22k and said with certainty that the cross was 14k.

Edit: Also called Buck about the knife, if I sent in the handle I could get a new Buck 110 for 36.50. Might think about it.
