Default Sun shaped Jewelry or rosette

Hi Everyone,

Found these recently. The thing I am uncertain about is the star shaped object. It looks like it could either be a pendant for a necklace or now I am thinking maybe itís a rosette? I did find it in an area where I had previously dug a 1780s New Jersey Large Cent, but I have also found junk and wheat pennies in the same area.

It is also reminiscent of a homemade flat button Iíve previously found.

I think if it was from a spur the rowel points would all be the same distance out from the center and it would have a hole in the center for a pin. Nice finds by the way.

Iím leaning towards rosette. Two raised points would be attachment points. Holes in back mainly there to use less material during manufacturing. Proper tool would remove material from everywhere on the back. But simple holes helps and is cheap to make tool. This also allows back to have flat surface to lay against leather.

Thanks! I agree it is more likely a rosette. I wasn't aware making holes in the item to lessen the cost. Thanks for the info.
