Some weeks ago I detected a kids play area - the usual slide and swing type, about 30 X 30 ft or so in size. I noticed right off that the dirt had pieces of bricks and stones in it. All kind of junk was coming up - but not regularly enough to make the dirt bothersome to the kids. It was unusual to find.
I took my time and dug most signals, ending up with a bunch of clad coins . However, I dug this token and tried to clean it in olive oil for a couple weeks with no luck. It looked like a typical piece of junk when I dug it. It's good for 1 quart of milk from a dairy here in Tucson - around 1902.

I looked in the Az token book and found it - as you see in the pic - listed for 125 bux. I took it to the coin dealer that I usually deal with and he asked me how much I wanted for it. As it didnt clean up and had some pitting I thought 100 bux was fair. He said ok and we were both happy.
So if you start to see old junky stuff in an area where it shouldn't be, maybe expect a surprise,
