Went on a night hunt this evening. Was searching an old church I've hunted many times and always manage at least a couple wheats. Dug this 1951 S Frankin Half right next to a sprinkler valve box. I skip those signals near valve boxes thinking it's probably just one of the fittings. Something about the 50 tones in Park 2 made me look it up. Awesome. Big silver by the moonlight. Its nicked up and kinda ugly, but I'm happy to have recovered it! Thanks for looking.

Awesome T! I have only found one of them myself! My wifes favorite coin.

That’s a FAT one! All but 1 Franklin has eluded me,which is weird. I find Walkers very readily,so the numbers must be way higher for those...
Great find...sparkling in the moonlight...nothing cooler than that!

Great dig there, Nighthawk! The last time I remember seeing a Ben Franklin half dollar in circulation was when I was just little rugrat at some relatives' wedding dance. Around 1970 or '71. I vaguely remember a live band playing, and some pretty women trying to teach me how to dance, but I clearly recall good old Grandpa handing us boys a big old BF half dollar each, and telling us to go buy ourselves a soda. That orange crush only emboldened us enough to come back and ask for more. He did give us each a second one, but I don't remember anything after that. What a party!
Hey thanks for posting this. Telling my little story made me forget how jealous I was when I first read about your big silver #9. Congrats!

Oh wow. Great job, stiffwrists! That's a great find! half-dollars are rare enough, but to pull a Franklin is fantastic! woot!

Seeing something like that come out of the ground will sure get your heart pumping!

Nice find, SW! And good instincts to go after the signal despite the sprinkler head - that's good hunting!
