Yes they are!! From China and a bunch of Asian locals. They are on Ebay. They don't even have the right King on a bunch and the wrong years. You can buy a Mint one for 57.00 usd tonight!!

This is not a button, It's a counterfeit 8 Reale coin. The holes were done for testing the metal content.

Usually the holes were not made for button holes. They were done to test the coin for metal content if it was suspicious. Some times you will see v shaped filings on the edges.
