John Warren Geils Jr, the guitarist and founder of the J. Geils band has passed away. He was 71 and the authorities think he died of natural causes.

Well, according to the internet, he started the band in tbe 60's with more of a bluesy sound. They didn't hit regular radio play until they changed their sound to the more pop sound that most of us are familiar with.

Don't think I heard about him till the late 70's, (I graduated high school in 79) and 80's.

Still makes me feel old.

Around the mid 70s when I heard of him. I graduated in 79 also. And yes, I'm feeling old as well . Getting old ain't for sissies..
