Something does not seem right with this story. If i am reading this right it means I could walk up to a strangers machine and push the button after they insert the money and if it hits i'm the winner?

I doubt as a stranger you could walk up to just any machine or person and do that. But these two were hanging out together according to the video so they gave it to her cuz she pushed the button.
