Hey all,

I'm in SC near Shaw AFB. Retired and 2014. I've been detecting for a number if years, but since retiring, have really embraced the hobby. I wanted to ask anyone from SC, what areas may be of interest for metal detecting. Two wars that took place in the area are sure to yield relics awaiting discovery! I'm happy to join the group!

Welcome from South Carolina !!!!

Helping as a caregiver for my wife's mom I need to usually stay close to home so no experience in other areas, but here is a link I just found, and doing a search should help find areas too -

http://www.scmetaldetectingclub.com/

also check the following link for other clubs in South Carolina -

Just be careful to get permission for private property, and also make sure any public area is not a protected historical site.

There are a number of metal detecting clubs in SC. You might be interested in one of them. Lots of knowledgeable individuals. I am primarily a coin and Jewelry hunter.

Welcome Doug, from Boston. Spent 18 months in Sumter, SC, stationed at Shaw AFB (Oct, 1971 - Mar, 1973). Didn't have a detector then, but I'm sure there is some good potential there.
