Good afternoon, I live in western Oregon in the Wilamette Valley, a great prospecting area. I have never used a whatn you would call a real metal detector, just a couple of junkers I found no results from them. They had no nulling to them or ground balancing knobs. Now I'am in the market for a good detector, Ive been studying the GoldBug2 and the GMT, but have been getting a lot of local people saying the Bounty Hunter Time Ranger Pro is just as good, True or Not??? I know that Fisher was just taken over bi first Texas holdings the owners of Bounty Hunter and other things, so I'm asking what do you people think?? Thanks goldminer_dave

Welcome to the forum Dave. I will let some of the other experts answer your questions as prospecting is a specialized area of metal detecting. :D

The Time Ranger does not compare to the other two GOLD detectors. If prospecting is your main concern then a gold hunting detector is what you want to have. The Time Ranger is more of a coin hunter. also look at the Minelab Eureka gold. An excellent detector. 8)

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Glad to have ya.

You get what you pay for. I haven't read anything on the Bounty Hunter, but I do know that both the GMT and Goldbug II are well proven gold getters. I have done a fair amount of prospecting, but not with a detector. Here's some reading for you but keep in mind that your local conditions will determine the best choice.
