Yesterday I found an old movement from a pocket watch that dates back to the early 1900's.
I have found plenty of wrist watches and parts in my time but pocket watches are special because they harken back to a bygone era so I am always tickled if I find one, parts, complete, junk or great.
I have only been digging in the dirt a little over 5 years so I consider myself extremely lucky to have found what I have in this category.
It started with a movement that was trashed but still had a silver bezel surrounding it, then a few other lower quality pieces, a few covers here and there with no movements and it all culminated in one of the best finds of my career a rolled gold Elgin time piece that has enough gold in it that ARA will accept it and pay me for the gold they can extract.
They are never gonna see it however because it looks way too good on display next to the silver one.
I might make a bigger display of all my pocket watch finds one day which might be cool.

I am curious to see what you guys have found in this area and I would be thrilled if you posted a few pics in this thread if you think about it and "have the time." :D

Guess mine qualifies as parts...lol Found this at a long gone homestead, couldn't find the case though. I'll be back there this fall, wish I could find the rest of it...

I've gotten 3 so far. They are definitely fun to find. They are pretty much front and center on one of my finds shelves.

Here's mine. Think it's a ladies watch by its size.

Here is my only pocket watch piece, a Victor "dollar watch". I decided to shine it up (before and after photos)
