This guy was deep in a streambed covered in 6 inch of sand and stone. Barely audible, gave a slightly higher squeak every 5th pass. At first glance looked like something that was headed straight for the garbage.
When I looked closer I saw an edge that is seen in the bottom of the first picture. I "cracked" the skin off and it fell apart like an egg in my hand. Inside I couldn't believe what I was seeing. To think I almost tossed this crusty circular disc.
Thanks guys, I was pretty pumped walking away with some silver that day. "Cookies" is a great term used for situations like this. I have had lots of luck hunting old stream beds with exposed bedrock.
