I want to get rid of the dark brownish-blackish color on my coins. Any ideas?

A rock tumbler will take care of the color. Add a little fish tank gravel, a few drops of dish soap and cover coins and rock with water. Let the tumbler run for 4-6 hours and the coins should look better or at least spendable.
