I upgraded detectors and the new one goes deep (Racer 2). My Lesche was a lot of work to get down deep, and I didn't have the cash for a Sampson, so I dug around my tool shed and found a few things lying around. The shovel was a small Ames spade that I cut down with a cutting wheel. The handle was from a broken axe handle that I whittled down. We'll see how long it lasts but for 2 hours work and free materials, I can't complain. It's 34" long.

I was going to serrated it but ran out of cutting discs. I will do that after I get some more.
