I’m wondering if someone can help tell me what type of axe head this is and a possible age. I found it at an old homesite and just finished electrolysis. it looks like there may be some markings in the areas I have circled. TIA

It's called a felling axe. I have found them on Indian sites from the 1820's
Looks like yours had some hard use.
Stick.

Personally, I'd grind the end down to a sharp edge and mount that sucker on an axe handle and USE IT. :) It needs some more hard use!

Great find. I've got one that I found also, but unfortunately the hold that holds the handle broke so there is no way to attach it...... :(
