Any info on this button

Hunted an empty lot in a rough part of town and thought I found a nickel. Turns out to be a button and it appears to be military. I think it's an eagle with a shield under a globe. There seems to be a banner on the left side. Sorry but my vision is weak and the button needs cleaning.

The shank is complete on the back.

Any idea what it is? Age? Military branch or regiment?

And finally, what's the best way to clean it?

Looks like a great seal button, 1902-present. To clean it I would start with just water and a soft toothbrush.

Yes water and a toothbrush to start and if youre like me and still arent liking the way it looks then tooth pick it to death. Just dont be too rough as you can puncture through.
