Help Identifying these U.S. military items

Hello all,
I just found these two nice military relics while detecting in my town, at two locations unrelated to one another. Any help with identifying the year for the button and the lapel pin are greatly appreciated!

It can’t be to present, I know my grandpas ww2 uniform didn’t have the hollow back.

The date range is correct. I don’t know what you mean by “the hollow back”. That particular back mark was used from 1893-1935.

I think he's referring to the US collar.

Backmark on Service button is Horstmann / Philadelphia - 1893-1935. http://pw1.netcom.com/~jimyce/bm.html

They are most likely WWI era. Very nice finds. Congrats.

I agree on WWI. From 1917-1923 the buttons were black and this one has traces of black on it.

The button is very much ww 1 but the collar disk is ww 2. I've found lots of disks ranging from ww1 through to Vietnam while hunting at an old army base.
