Fun day for an amateur!

I would have kept it.

May end up being mine but I’ll let the land owner decide what he wants to do,if I asked for it he’d probably give it to me, just want to make sure it doesn’t have any “ questionable history” shall we say

Yeah I'd love to know the story of just how that got there. I remember this time last year somebody on here found a pistol in a pond or lake. Great photo by the way!

Saw it from 15 yards and my heart jumped, don’t think I even touched water getting to it[emoji23]

Thanks, was cool to find. Land owner slightly confused and didn’t really want to believe me but welcomed me back anytime. Yay!

I would say not good to fire , wood was cool, weathered. Barrel pretty corroded and rusty

I'm really intrigued by this find and the photo. Does this stream freeze in the winter? Could a hunter have dropped it after falling through thin ice? Does the stream flood and could it have been pushed down stream by the current? At any rate, great find and excellent photo.

That’s all possible buddy. I haven’t a clue nor does the owner. Cool mystery, wish it was older. Creek does flood, creek does freeze rock solid, ain’t no tellin what happened. Probably someone’s hunting story from 40 years ago and they are wondering where the gun ended up

Nice find.

I found this a couple of months ago. Site also had horseshoes, a pocketknife, a handful of musketballs and Minieballs. Also a 1907 and 1898 Barber quarter, Indianhead pennies from 1864 to 1899, an 1858 Seated Liberty Dime and an 1853 and 1860 Seated Liberty half dimes. And for the grand finale, a section of sidewalk was torn out and found another Minieball and a1718 2 Reale.

Sweetest spot I’ve ever found.

Shouldn't you turn it over to the Authorities?

All the proper steps were taken. It was a pain in the ass. If you’re going to find A gun make sure it’s really old lol
