So I work with a guy that happens to metal detect (what are the odds)?
He has a Fisher CZ7 and is looking to upgrade .
He's been wanting to see my e-Trac so I brought it in and suggested we go down to the local town square (which dates back to the late 1800's).
We only had about 15 minutes to hunt. Right off the bat I got a nice deep high tone. I dug down and hit a tree root with the circumference of my forearm about 5 inches down. I could not pursue it in my business casual clothes so I filled it in and moved on
I will be back with a bigger shovel though 
I dug a couple clad dimes and then handed the detector to my coworker. He walked about 5 feet and got a nice 45 signal about 6.5" down. We ended up digging a 1945 George VI Canadian penny. It came up higher than a wheatie or a newer pre-zinc penny.
I wonder if it's because that Canadian penny is 98% copper versus 95%.
Not a great find but still pretty cool.
