I found six of these on a campsite (Confederate from 1861 through 1862 and Federal from 1863 through the end of the war). Each of these three ringers measure .577" in diameter, are .95" long and weigh 31 grams (approx 478 grains). Can you help me to identify them, please? ,577.jpg

The best match I can find for your measurements would be the Colt revolving rifle. The specimen I am looking at in Thomas' book calls it a .56 cal, but your length and weight are very close. Those are considered a good find for bullets. Be sure to hit that site hard.

I agree, if the bullets were cleaned I bet they would measure close to .56
I have an original Colt bullet mold for the .56 rifle as well as the rifle itself.
