what is this? Found at old farm house.

So I found this thing in my bucket of junk/unidentified finds. I cleaned it off a little and was wondering what it is. I asked a buddy who also metal detects and collects antiques. he said maybe the nob to a shifter(on the dash).

Its VERY heavy, the clear looking piece is glass i think. I found it at older farm house where I found other relics from the 30-60s. There was another property on the lot before this farm house also.
