A couple of recent finds. The small tin piece is asymmetrical, part of something, cleaned it in Evaporust thinking I could see letters on one side but it's just a silkscreened (?) design. Part of ???. The other piece looks like a pushbutton ffrom a car dash, maybe 1940s? Guitar pick for size reference.

Door latch, not sure on the tin. Not a clear view of shape. Pop

My guess for the push button item is that it is from a car radio.

That is not a push button. It is a door latch. Go open a door and look at the part that moves in and out to latch it. I've installed dozens of them.

Sorry on the pix, indoor light was not good enough to define the tin thingie

+1 on the door latch, probably from the 60's just like my car has.

The piece looks like an early or commercial Schlage entrance door latch. It will be 3/4" in diameter. It is missing the outter mounting shell.

If any doubt. This was in my junk box.

Sage is right! Not a car part at all. I knew I've seen that same thing before...
The tin thing is a little tough to get a reading from, so to speak. Looks like a part of an old tin toy or ??
