Long story short, I hunted this old parking lot that a defunct 100 year old amusement park once used.
Using Historic Aerials, I was able to see the history of the place from 1938 to 2005. In 1971 they doubled the size of the lot, but did not pave the addition. The original pavement is all cracked and disintegrating it so it can easily be moved and put back in place.
I seriously thought this place would net me some older coins. Well, I only found one penny from 1942. All of the other coins were modern change from less than 20 years ago. The only interesting thing about the 1942 was that on one side it was loaded with asphalt. It looks like it might have been paved over back in the 1940’s or 1950's. Some of the lot can’t be hunted, because it has been used as a dump site for a long time. Piles of gravel, sand and old furniture have covered a lot of it up. This was disappointing!
