Hey newbies. I have been at this MDing for only a few months. I found this really awesome book, by Dan Hughes called the Metal Detecting Manual. It has helped me alot, it might be of assistamce to you.

The link to his book is already posted on the site in the members link section..

Yeah, I just ordered the book from Dan, and conversed with him a little through email... a really nice guy.:)

Finally received the book. It looks to be well written for the beginner. My only negative comment is the deletion of page 71 from the book- Page 73 was printed twice. Mr. Hughes added a loose page consisting of page 72, then added a note stating once the 2nd printing hits the press he would send out a free copy for $4.00 to cover S&H. But, the 2nd printing won't happen until the 1st edition sells out. That "may be quite a while", per Mr. Hughes.

Given this, I still would have ordered the book. But, I believe it is in the best interest of Mr. Hughes to highlight this info on his web page so any future customers will not be surprised and know exactly what they are getting when they purchase his book.

I discuss the deletion here with the author, Dan Hughes:
