What would cause a White's Spectrum to show overload on the display????I was searching a park that has been a park setting since the early 1900's and scanned over a large rock sticking up from the ground and the icon setting on the Spectrum kept showing overload. This is new to me.

That's what a large metal object will come up as on the White's E-series detectors.

Yep, you get an OVERLOAD when a large metal object is near or on the surface. My MXT does that too. The large rock may have an iron bar near it, or under it.

Its what OD said and it doesn't do any harm other than screaming in your ears... My MXT does the same thing if a target is close to the surface and is junk like a can or something large.

3' of 1/4" thick log chain just under the surface will do it to. Scared the heck out of me.
