Just saw this - Robin Hood find? WOW!

Totally awesome ! Us USA'ers wish we had that kind of history here!

~Alan~ head to Sherwood Forest !!!

A great find, but poor journalism. Detecting is illegal in Sherwood Forest. The ring was found on an organised dig on nearby farmland. The writer headlines the figure £70,000. Let's hope the finder isn't disappointed with all the media hype. The ring has to go through the treasure process and a final value rests with the valuation committee.

The relation with Robin Hood - if he ever existed - is tenuous but that, AND the association with Sherwood, makes a better story.

There it is! Finds like that are what gets us up and out! Thats the thing about this Sport that captures the imagination...Sometimes you just never know what the next ping will be...Thanks for the post!

......Robin Hood isn't real? :waaa:

Very cool story anyway, thanks to the OP for sharing

Beautiful Ring For Sure

? Were they really faceting gem stones and prong setting them in the 14th century? Seems like the date is way off IMO. It seems to be much newer than that?
