I know yes another wireless headphone thread. But hear me out first. I am thinking about getting a Sovereign GT and I have been thinking about putting it in a waterproof plano box. I have read where the Auvio 33-283 that several people on here have used in the past worked very well. Now that those are discounted which happened in 2011 what type of wireless headphones do you guys use. I'm looking at getting wireless headphones so that I only have to use 1 cable clam in the plano box and can use a wireless transmitter in the box. I have found that Radioshack still sells the auvio wireless headphones which are these http://www.radioshack.com/auvio-wireless-stereo-headphones/3301089.html#prefn1=connectivityTechnology&prefv1=RF+wireless&start=2&tab=tab1 as well as these http://www.radioshack.com/auvio-stereo-wireless-headphones/3300281.html#prefn1=brand&prefn2=connectivityTechnology&prefv2=RF+wireless&prefv1=AUVIO&start=2. Both of which use the radio frequency of 2.4ghz. So would these work as well as the old auvio 33-283. Also if the box was underwater would that cause interference with the headphones to the transmitter.

I've been researching similar ideas and lots of folks have good things to say about TDK WR700. Check em out.

The TDKs are GREAT....the only issue I have with them is the ear cup size. I feel they're a little small and after a while they start to hurt. But, I have big ears, or at least my wife always tells me I do??? As far as functionality, they are flawless, great sound, battery life is amazing, absolutely zero delay.

what type of wireless do you want so that there is no lag bluetooth or RF. because I have looked at the TDK and the ones I have seen are pretty expensive like over 100

Yeah, that is the only issue with the TDKs they are a bit pricey. I guess compared to the grey ghosts and killer b's they're inline price-wise.

RF has no lag, Bluetooth can have major lag.
I have explained this in a few threads but since you ask and are looking this may help.
If you look deep enough and the manufacture of the BT is decent the will post the delay time. This is normal giving in milliseconds (ms) and can be as high as 500ms or more.

So what does this mean in delay when MD?
If you swing at 2' per second (not really a fast swing) you are swinging 24" in one second or 1000 milliseconds.

So if you take your 24" and divide it by 1000 you get .024" per ms.
If the device has a 500ms delay .024x500 = 12"
So when swinging and you hear the beep, the signal was 12 behind where you are when you hear it..

If you find BT with delay around 40 ms or less you will probably be fine as .024x50 is 1.2".
Obviously less is better but harder to find.
FM (Radio Frequency Modulation) or RF has no delay.

I have just ordered one of these to see if it is better than my DIY unit. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IMWRK60/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Of course these require a pocket radio or Walkman to be worn with your head phones of choice plugged in..

Will post a thread of it's own when I get it.. still waiting on Amazon to ship but expect it by next week.

An FM transmitter will not work for me because I will be around alot of people and there is a radio tower less then a mile away from where I do most of my hunting in the summer. So I think the headphones would get alot of static interference from the tower. So I will have to look at some RF wireless headphones. I'm thinking the auvio could work since they are just a different model number.

I went with TaoTronics BT transmitter and headphones and the leg or delay is very minimal. I did need the adaptor for the AT Pro bit no in lone volume control. Hooked it all up works good and looks good too.

I have AKG K840KL. It is based on Kleer wireless technology (not BT or RF). Nice, comfortable headphones with pretty small transmitter. I bought from eBay new open box for $160.

Keep your eyes open for 33-283 Auvios. I was lucky here a few weeks ago and got a NIB set for 55.00 shipped.. But if you see any anywhere you need to pull the trigger quickly they go FAST. BUT, don't buy junk. Look for seller feedback etc.
Good luck, and HH, Minlooker.

PS, make sure you get all the parts, phones, charger, sending unit. Ask about the send unit taking and holding a charge. (non replaceable rechargeable batteries inside unit) Phones take either alk AA or rechargeable (from supplied charger) AAs.

I had misplaced my auvio charger that went to my 33-283's for the last 2 years. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on these but luckily just found my charger! http://www.ebay.com/itm/27150090922...49&var=570359991266&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
But these look like they would have the same guts for cheap.
PS: I had tried 3 different Bluetooth phones and all had some degree of lag time. So only look for the 2.4ghz units.

that is why I was looking at these http://www.radioshack.com/auvio-wireless-stereo-headphones/3301089.html#prefn1=brand&q=wireless%2Bheadphones&prefv1=AUVIO&start=1&tab=tab2 because they are from the same company and use the same frequency so I would think they would work

Those look interesting. I'm going to check them out at my local store. Just got off the phone with them to make sure they were in stock...

Please post a picture of them if you get them because I cant seem to find anything about a transmitter or anything like how I would hook them to my detector.

Neither one of those phones will work. They both have transmitters that need to be plugged into house current. Even if they ran on batteries they would be too big. You need something that comes with a transmitting Dongle.
Something like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rapoo-H3070...9222&clkid=4196734988236987950&_qi=RTM1963929

Well nuts. I didn't realize they used house current. I read the specs closer and see they use an AC adapter. Drat, but you saved me a 15 mile round trip.

Have you used those Rapoo phones?

Thanks...
