Quarter in the battery cap

I just read this in another thread here on the forum so i was wondering, Do folks really put a quarter in the battery cap of the Garrett pro pointer in order to make the battery connection better? I have two pointers on order so wondering if this is really something to do?

I do. Both of mine never acted up beforehand though.
