Game Piece?? Help!!

Anyone have any idea what the item in the center with the heart is? It has the suits of a card deck on each side...hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs. Seems it's made of brass and was found in an area where confederates were staged during most of the civil war.

Any information would be appreciated....I haven't been able to track it down.

I believe what you have there is the end of a card game pencil.

Yes!!! That's what I was thinking...it's got the little crimp marks around the top!
