Too much home remodeling! Today regardless of the weather forecast of 50% rain, I braved the elements with my detector. Not wanting to go far, I only went to the local abandoned grade school 2 miles away. Sprinkling when I got there! Started getting set up to detect.....couldn't find my digging trowel......went home & got it, Came back. Started again, set up detector & its not working right! Fool around with it for 5 minutes & find out the ear buds aren't connected tightly. Finally start detecting after 35 minutes wasted! Decided to grid search where I found the Buffalo Nickel a couple weeks ago, kids, joggers, passers by all watching me......but big deal.....it doesn't bother me anymore. Soon I had a nickel signal.....1958-D Jefferson in great shape. Next came 3 wheat cents, all with no date. This acidic clay sure does a job on copper! Now there's a dime signal, 81 VDI, & 3" down I uncover a 1954-S Roosevelt dime in fine shape.......alright.....things are improving! 3 more wheat cents come up at 3" also, one without date, 1940-S & 1954-S. Another nickel signal.....2" down, a 1964-D Jefferson! Next to the old Volley Ball area comes another dime signal.......3 1/2" down I uncover a clay covered coin......wipe it & see a Mercury! A 1945-D in very good condition. Hmm, something wrong with my digging trowel......broke! I found more coins, but they were all newer & everything amounted to $3.95 Also several metal buttons & gold plated pin in bad shape. Now its late afternoon, my back is hurting, wind coming up, hungry & clouds building. How does these intended short trips turn out so long? Grid searching is so boring! But.....2 more silvers under my belt for the year!
