Hey folks, I got out for a few hunts this week. I went to one of my parks, this one is from sometime around the turn of the century. That's usually the age limit for most of the parks in my region, so I basically don't have the chance at anything older than the turn of the century. I dug my first CC mint silver ever earlier in the week. It was a deep dime hit by an old original path that was laid out in the park's original design. I can't imagine many people know this, let alone detectorists. The path is now grown over with grass, but if you look you can see small elevation in the grass where it once was. I think these paths were becoming overgrown by as early as the 30's or 40's, so anything that has some depth near them should be old. Anyway it was an 1878 CC Seated dime. I don't dig them often, because again my parks aren't that old, for them to be a common coin dropped back in the day. Usually it's Barbers or younger for me. You figure usually if there is a Seated there, it would be pretty worn, but surprisingly this one has quite a bit of detail on it still, it is just discolored from the poor soil conditions here. That hunt, I also found a 1912 Barber dime. a 1928 S Merc, and a 1952 Rosie, to complete the dime grand slam. Man I searched and searched for that Rosie to complete the grand slam! Another hunt I had yesterday there, I went to an area with a nice old grove of trees where I have dug a lot of Barbers in the past. I call it "Barber Hill". One of those old walking paths ran through here in the early 1900's like I was talking earlier about. Now first let me tell you I seen a guy detecting in here the other day. I didn't recognize him, but I knew anybody from newbies to veteran detectorists, come to hunt this park sometimes. Now I am to the point at this park where when I see someone hunting my grounds, I have the attitude like, oh well I'm sure he's not finding much lol. I gridded the heck out of that spot! But when I went to hunt there yesterday, just to be sure I went back to that area to check yet again. Well I noticed some plugs, but that day I saw him, I seen he was moving throughout the park, so I assume he wasn't finding much. But I did see him spending quite a bit of time in this area, so I was curious. It did make me realize it would be a shame to lose out on a good coin, by missing a small patch of grass here. Because I spend quite of bit of time in this park over the years, and I take a great deal of pride in cleaning out a spot. So i went back and I am glad I did because right by the old walking path, I got a 7-47 signal on the E-trac just 2 to 3 inches deep. Old stuff doesn't sink very deep here, especially on "Barber Hill". I was surprised this signal was missed, but I would imagine, because it is in a tight little area along the woods, near some tress and a trail, I would figure there was a lot of trash near the old path. So that's probably why I left it, because I probably figured it was too trashy of an area. Anyway to make a long story short, I dug down and it was a 1906 Barber Half. Next to it was a 1917 Wheat penny, and an old gold plated ring. I was thinking to myself this guy was right here the other day lol! I am sure glad that I found this coin and rechecked the area, because silver halves are getting very very hard to find in any public spots, let alone Barber Halves. And now I feel even more like I have cleaned the place out even better. I also dug a neat little spill along this path that had a 1900 O Barber dime, a 1916 Buffalo nickel, and a 1907 IH penny. So this was an overlooked area, and I am glad I rechecked it. Later in the hunt I dug a nice sharp 1916 Barber dime, in another area I had rechecked, where there used to be some old sports courts a long time ago. Anyway, enjoy the pics, thanks for looking, have a great weekend, and HH Everyone! :)

:detector::sneaking:
Wow! Congrats! Great job finding a half in the trashy ground area! Sounds like you better thank that detectorist for the extra motivation next time you see him lol.

👀 incredible !
Just look at the eagle on the back of that barber in the dirt clump.
That photo should be blown up and prints should be made.
Love the post .

By the way, I'm free next Saturday. lol

UNBELIEVABLE ! Congrats on the slam. I don't think anybody pulls out more old silver than you. You truly are a master with the Etrac. Are you considering an Equinox ? HH Mark
