I hit my new spot today for 2.5 hours. The top 4 coins under what is left of a change purse were at one time in it.They were all together. Where they were touching each other the corrosion is less. The dates 1894 to1906.
The nickel is 1883. and the other 1/2 dollar is 1901.

Holy Moly! That was from one hunt at one spot?

That is almost as much silver as I found ALL LAST YEAR!!!!

Very nice Jim. I would call that a nice pocket or wallet find. Can you imagine the lady who lost it back then? Bet she was sad. Congrats and the story is priceless. Lost coin purse found decades later. Cool.

I agree, eye popping and mind blowing for sure!

Just crazy!! Congrats is not a good enough word..

That compass is killer too! I dug the one in my avatar..

What state were you hunting in?

<*)))>{

What are you using for a machine and rough idea for settings. I am wondering why you have not located any IH pennies. Nice finds there. More then most find in a season. hh an gl -Joe

Eyepopping! I think it was a cache! Why is the brass so clean?

Ladies would bury an old change purse sometimes if they did not trust the bank or there was no bank in the area. I think Chicagoron found one on TV recently.

$2.50 (4 coins, 2 halves and 2 quarters) was a lot of money 100 years ago.

I would put the 4 coins and the purse bar in a frame with a felt back and hang it on the wall!

Many thanks for your replies.
This area has been a swim area starting in the late 1800s
My goal is to find a coin from the mid 1800s plus some gold!!

imalookin2 The losing of that much money back then was like losing your wallet today.

joeb1999 I am using a Excal as hot as possible, The bottom is mud.
I thing that the bottom being fine silty mud is why a lot of the copper pennies and the brass are so clean.

These targets came from 12 to 15 feet of water,

HH Jim will post todays hunt later.

You are in a great area man, grid it tight and leave nothing un scanned.

The Gold will come, just enjoy every minute you get to hunt such a rich area! :wow:
