Buckle?

Found this in an 1800s area and looks like it could be a buckle. Anybody know what it is?

That's horse equipment. I think it is off the saddle.

I agree, horse equipment. But not from the sadle (or bridle or halter).

This one has a pin to be fitted on a belt. It is most likely a belt devider from horse pulling harness.

Looks like a combination of a "conway buckle" and a "halter square". Not sure what the real name would be.
