i found a diamond ring and i took it to a jewelery store to see if real diamonds
well the diamonds are not real and i figured so , but the band says 'sterling" on the inside and i asked if the band was worth something for silver content
they tested the band and said it was not silver
so the question is , were they wrong ? why would it say sterling if it was not silver ?
i might get another opinion , but really i am sure they are correct i just do not understand the "sterling" marking on the ring ...
this treasure hunting hobby sure raises alot of questions

My guess is (that is if they're correct in their answers to you), is that it's a fake made to appear real to the purchasing victims.

You might want to invest in a gold / silver acid test kit. They are pretty cheap and will tell you right away what youv'e got.
There is a lot of fake jewelry out there!

Anybody can stamp anything on a ring or other piece of jewelry. Fake jewelry from China and Mexico and fake coins are all over.....
