Georgia Beaches?

My brother asked me if there was any legal issues for metal detecting in Georgia since he's planning a vacation down there. I did some research and read this in one. Does this literally mean detecting a Georgia beach is off limits?

"Remember, you can metal detect in Georgia, but not on State Lands, or beaches."

You can hunt Georgia beaches but like anywhere else there may be an exception. like private property or State Parks. Jekyll Island near Brunswick Georgia is off limits but St. Simons Island a few miles away is fine. Good luck and Ya'll come back now, ya hear!
