Wrap the rag around a drill bit, and then simply pull the drill trigger. The rag will rap up on it. Then you can put a little polish on the rag, and spin. Push the ring against it and presto... polished ring.

Silver polish works faster, but it's not necessary.

Here's a video I made a few years ago. I now use actual polishing wheels, but in a jiffy, I'll still do this, once in a while.
