About 6 weeks ago, I found my first ever seated half dollar.
Tonight, I found my second, sort of...

When it first popped out, I thought it was either a Largie or an old foreign copper.
I rubbed it gently to see what it was and the edge crumbled:shock: so I figured it must be a washer or big slug.
I flipped it over and saw the wing and wondered what the heck it could be??

What are the odds of finding something like this?
It appears to be 1877, but it is hard to tell.

LOVE this hobby.

Happy Hunting everybody!

Must be pewter... That is a FANTASTIC find in my book and I'm sure many others!

I wonder what it looked like 100 years ago...?

you can buy them for less than .50 each from china...

I am not sure how long that metal takes to break down in the dirt where the OP found it.

but, the coin world is awash from fakes from china.. fakes of old coins, new coins.. whatever you like.

It's gotten to the point where the Chinese are making fakes of Chinese stuff!
