I dug this some time ago. It feels like some sort of nickel. The buffalo is there for size reference. It has heavy black corrosion. Any suggestions on how to maybe see some detail? I'm not really concerned about damaging it. It may not even be a coin at all. What would you try?

I soaked it in lemon juice during Thanksgiving dinner and forgot about it until after pie! I rubbed it with a baking soda paste. Haha. It's too far gone. I still think it may have been a nickel. I guess we'll never know...

Looks like a super worn war nickel! Throw it in a small dish and cover it with ammonia. If it starts leaching a bluish color into the ammonia then it's probably a war nickel. Or maybe it's just a metal knockout from an electrical box that was kind of corroded?

Its a damned old junction box knock out!... If you think its some sort of nickel, take it down and run it through the nearest Coinstar! The Coinstar dont lie!

I used to waste a lot of time trying to identify junk that wasn't even worth the effort , now I just chuck it in the garbage . Getting old will do that .
