Hit an old park near me that I have pulled Mercs and Rosies from in the past. I just know that there are lots of stuff for it to give up. Had a really fun hunt! My second Buffalo Nickel, my third Indian Penny, a cool 925 necklace and my FIRST gold ring!

I saw the gold ring in the side of the hole. It was a solid 55 on my Garrett. I was so excited, I actually ran to my car to get my phone and take a picture of it in the hole. It is a 1950 class ring! It used to have a school crest or something soldered on to it, which is missing. Once I cleaned it up and realized that the crest was missing, I went back to the park and searched and searched the hole for it. No luck. Thanks for looking! Soooo excited to hit my first gold ring. It is only 10K, but so fun to find.

Also found this old button. It has an eagle on it and says WATERBURY MANUFACTURING 00 * Any information on it would be appreciated.

UPDATED NEW PICS LATER IN THREAD

Super cool finds and congrats on your first gold!:bling:

That's a super class ring! That's a great find, some can search for years until they find gold. WTG!

Congrats on your first gold ring, the sterling, Buffalo, Indian and button...excellent hunt!

Thanks! The Buffalo is a 1929. Still working on the date of Indian. The ring has initials on the inside, but there is no way of telling what high school its from. Class of 1950 would be turning 85 years old this year.

Gold ring pics

You totally KILLED IT, with the pics of the gold ring IN the dirt, on your first one. VERY few people have the wherewithall to even THINK about doing that.

Congrats to you for keeping your wits about you and capturing the moment, in a way that you'll remember forever.

That's amazing, and the ring is fantastic!

Great job, all the way around.

Cheers,

Skippy

Thanks! My pinpointer went off on the side of the hole. I rubbed away the dirt and saw that beautiful gold band contrasting the dirt. I had to go get my phone and capture it. I even thought of posting the picture of it, if it ended up being a Chuck E Cheese token or something. Haha.
It was pretty undeniably gold though. Such a solid mid tone. I'm starting to get an ear for this hobby. Yea!!!!

Outstanding all around! Along with everything else, Finding a nice chain like that is a real trophy too! Thats a sweet looking old GOLD class ring! Congratulations and good job taking the pics and doing us a write up! :hat3:

I was really stoked about that silver chain. It sounded odd and jumpy. Thought it was a bunch of garbage or hoping it was a coin spill. I took a wide dig at it. (I'm not proud of the ugly plug I dug on that one) i saw the end of it and thought it was going to be in a bunch of peices. To my surprise it came out in one peice, like a huge nightcrawler. It was pretty black. Looked at the clasps and saw 925. :D
I didn't think about it at all after I found that gold ring! Haha. Used a little toothpaste on it when I got home and it shined up well. Thanks Mud.

Nice finds, I really like the IHP, Buff, & Gold ring! :woot: From the pics, the Indian Head looks like either 1880, 1882, 1886, or 1888. :lookclose:

For more help IDing your button, I would suggest posting it in the Help To ID My Finds sub-forum. :research:

I think you are right. I have looked at it over and over, i think i have narrowed it down to 1886 or possibly 1885.
