I was interested in picking up a used Ace 250 and saw a 150 for sale in the local craigslist. The guy wants $125 (I would probably offer $100).It has been used only once and comes with trowel, headphones, etc...Basically everything including the box.

Would I be better off holding out for a 250?

Given the choice of the two, go for the 250. It has more features, including a pinpoint button. It's worth that little extra.

Yes, the 250...

For less than a $100 more than what he's asking you can get a brand new 250. Shop around a little and you can probably pick up a nice package deal.
Merry Christmas,
Marty

The big disadvantage of the ace 150 is, the loops will work in mono loop mode.
So you'll have poor target ID and separation and pin point is like %$§&.

I'd go for a 250. (or a better one... ;))

250 for sure!

I bought a 250, but saw that the 150 was cheaper. With all the bells and whistles Garrett packs into these yellow-fellers, the 250 is a better deal. I don't use headphones, but have a really nice set of Sony ones. I recommend a cover for your unit (for rain/snow) and a coil cover. I am currently looking for a sniper coil for my 250!
