I guess I waited too long to search a nearby beach area. I only found two quarters, a penny and the chain and clips. It looks to me like the chain and clips might be for glasses hanging around the neck or sweater clips. The dirtier change and junk were dug in the area around the beach. The army men were just laying in the sand.

It's fun finding anything I feel!
Keep at it cuz I know the beach out here keep getting "re-seeded" so to speak. 
I have several of those plastic solders and other items like that. I'll post a pix sometime. I look on them as a side benefit of my detecting!
