Too hot to metal detect, so I opted to dig gravel in the shade on the edge of a river. Nice cool breeze too! I was surprised to dig up an old glass pop bottle, suggesting that the gravel I was digging has had many years to get some flour gold built up in it. At one point, I looked in the sluice, and saw a silver looking coin. But, after taking it out, it was a 1994 clad quarter. My first coin ever found sluicing for gold.
