Snow has melted again, so I ran out in the yard to detect when the wife got home tonight. Started out pretty slow as I've been digging a lot of so-so signals, figuring I'm cleaning it out if nothing else. Did find a wheat penny amongst some other change. About the time it was getting dark, I got a loud 'dollar'' signal at 6 inches. Figuring it was going to be some kind of lid, I dug and started breaking up the plug and found a very rusted bent nail. I was like "how the heck did that nail make THAT signal?" Scanned the plug again and still got a loud response and pulled out a bicentennial 'silver dollar'. I thought about going in and washing it up, but decided to do one more target before it got too dark. That wound up being a 1950 dime. I was pretty happy! I'm hoping the snow is gone for the spring.
