Been thinking about doing some magnet fishing. Where is a good place to buy a decent inexpensive magnet. How powerful should it be?

I thought that I would just try under some of the bridges in the area. My ex-brother-in-law said that when he was a police officer sometimes people would throw things over the railings when they were being chased. I doubt if a lot of it would be attracted to a magnet though.

I know some people that have tried it and love it. It's unique for sure. They say to just bounce it off the bottom like a fishing weight, and you will feel when the magnet gets a hit. I think they use fishing poles and lighter magnets though. You could always use braided line, that stuff is tough!
