I met up yesterday with Scott (Dsm_mechva) for a little meet and greet relic hunt. It was a great time, scored some nice relics and made a new bud.
We ended up hitting a spot that I've had permission for a couple years, but never hunted it because it looked to be land-locked from the maps. We drove around and found a small path cutting through the woods, just big enough for my Jeep. And just big enough it was, we were off-roading it like Arnold in Commando. I'm sure Scott thought I was nuts.
The rd went right to the property, so we geared up and had at it. I scored the 1891 Indian right away followed by the fired 3-ringer. Then a few wheaties, a few more wheaties, and a few more wheaties. Then got the .69 round ball with an unusual sprue mark, maybe a Buck & Ball, and the flattened bullet. Also got the pewter ring pretty close by. It still has one stone in the side and some unique designs on it.
There were a few old home sites on the property, so we tried our luck at one of those before calling it a day. Got a bunch more clad, the silver plated pocket watch cover (it looks like it has a bullet hole in it), a thick brass disk that reads " JR 5825", and a very strange button. It's similar to a WW1-WW2 collar disc, the lettering is more modern than CW, but it looks more like a button, made of pewter, plated in a few spots with a copper color, and has a strange back mark symbol. It looks like an intertwined "PC". Guys, help me out on this one. I have no clue.
Scott also made some good finds, I'll let him post his up. It was a great day to be in the woods. We'll be going back for more soon.
