Been a while since I've posted. I've actually been out a bit, just haven't had the time to get on and post about my experiences.

For a while I was thinking I was in a slump, but then I realized, "no, I'm not in a slump, I'm still finding gobs of stuff... I'm just not getting over gold!"

My skills are sharp, finding plenty of goods, just needed better locations. So, I switched it up a little and went to a school that historically I've not done well at (been there twice before in the last 5 years), because it always felt like it had been hit previously by detectorists. This was no exception, BUT, I was finding plenty of targets in the 40s-60s range on the AT Max, and figured someone had just stripped it of all the change.

Sure enough, out pops a nice little 14K diamond solitaire ring. rang up a 47.
the diamond is 2.5mm princess cut, which makes it exactly a 1/10th carat stone. Not huge, but still... pretty little ring. About 4" down, so it had been there a while, for sure!

This was Monday... Saturday I was out at another elementary school and pulled a Sterling Spoon ring, and a nice sterling arrowhead pendant. Hunts are going well, nice to get on the board with some gold.

Cheers!

Congrats on the gold and sterlings Skippy. What’s a 47 on the Garrett equate to range wise?

aluminum. Lower that a pull tab, but higher than a foil plastic-bottle peel-topper.

Most 47s I find are can-slaw, though this sounded not like can slaw, which is why I dug it. Most can slaw on the AT Max will have an "edge" to it like a bottle cap.

Most commonly, with such a solid sound like this, I'll find folded foil wrappers (like gum wrappers, or small foil wrappers for processed food that someone folded 7 times and tossed), that fool me, but luckily, it was a ring this go around! :)

Cool, man!
Pretty much most of my gold has been found at parks and sites pounded for years by so many other detectorists.
I love the challenge, finding great things in areas where others missed them can give you a very unique, satisfying feeling.

Yes it is... yes it is... :)

Those are two nice rings! I love the diamond one; it reminds me of my mother's wedding band. Very pretty! Congrats on your first 2021 gold!
