As promised here is a thread on how to make a skinny shaft. Very useful tool for water hunters/bush hunters.
I hope the photos simplified it down. Some stock lower clevis (where the washers and bolt go) will fit perfectly with the skinny shaft. Others need to be manufactured or modifiy the stock clevis. This is the only challenging part.

Once this is solved its smooth sailing. Just a matter of finding poles with the right sizes. Thick sidewalls on the upper shaft of at least 1.5mm with overlap areas to prevent the "golf club effect". Lower shaft sidewall at least 3 or 4mm with plenty of overlap into the mid-shaft.

This shaft took me about an hour to make from start to finish. Each swing will have considerably less drag. Its also light and fits in my suitcase.
Any questions just ask. I have 1 excal shaft sitting here that I might put on ebay or the classified section in the near future as I have no need for it.
Stock clevis that will work are Fisher CZ, Tesoro SS/TS, Garrett (some). Ones that need to be modified are Whites, Minelab (some)

Good luck to those that try it... and Happy Easter
